Industrial plant professionals review automated technology on large computer monitors

Lead by Andrew Lux, a Lean Six Sigma certified master black belt with over 40 years of industrial experience, this course will provide a broad exposure to topics in quality improvement that encompass the body of knowledge for Six Sigma Green Belts in various settings, including manufacturing, engineering and service industries (e.g., hospitals, banks, retailers). Essential concepts, practices, methods and tools for quality improvement, lean management, and effective teamwork are examined, along with the Six Sigma DMAIC problem solving approach.  Students will be equipped to help organizations achieve operational excellence by applying what is learned within an improvement project case study.

Format

Delivery Options

Online Fixed-Date: A course or program that is delivered online between a fixed start and end date, but with few or no live class sessions. You will complete online modules on a set schedule alongside a group of peers, with fixed due dates for assignments. Frequent opportunities to interact with your peers and instructor via discussion boards or other learning activities will be provided. 

Time to Completion

Typically students will complete the work needed in as little as three months total. There are two components to this course, and both must be completed for certification. The first ten weeks, students will learn by interacting with video lectures, quizzes, optional virtual meetings, and other course content. After this structured ten weeks, students will have another four months with instructor guidance to complete analysis of a simulated or real-world project using the principles learned.

Requirements

Course Completion Requirements

There are two components to this course, and both must be completed to earn Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate. Quizzes must be completed with a grade of 80% or higher. For the final project, students must present their own analysis using the Lean Six Sigma framework. Successful completion of this project is assessed by a committee organized by the instructor.

  • A computer capable of playing mp4 files: current Mac (OS X) or PC (Windows 10 or 11) with high-speed internet connection and speakers/headphones are recommended
