This training examines the relationship between social media use and mental health. The session explores both the positive and negative effects of social media, including its impact on self-esteem, anxiety, depression and social connectedness. The session discusses skills and interventions that can be utilized when working with clients managing their mental health in this digital age.

What You'll Learn

After completing this training, participants will be able to...

  • Describe both the positive and negative impacts of social media and other digital platforms on self-esteem and mental health. 
  • Define and identify at least 3 signs of digital burnout. 
  • Assist clients with maintaining social media boundaries and reducing digital burnout.  

What You'll Earn

This training is approved for 2 CE clock hours for counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists, as well as prevention professionals in domain P6 - professional growth & responsibility and substance use counselors in domain TR1 - treatment field related (renewals only) in the state of Ohio.

Presenter

Rashandra Collier, MSW, LISW

School Social Worker, Columbus City Schools

Rashandra Collier, MSW, LISW, is a licensed independent social worker actively working in the social work field for over 18 years. She currently works for Columbus City Schools as a school social worker and has over 10 years of experience in working in child welfare. Collier also provided therapy and direct support to individuals who have experienced various types of trauma, including sexual abuse and gun violence. She served veterans working on the VA crisis line and has received in-depth training on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as other evidence-based models specific to managing and responding to crisis situations. 

Continuing Education Approvals 

The Ohio State University College of Social Work provides approvals for continuing education for counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists that are accepted by the state of Ohio Counselor, Social Work, and Marriage and Family Therapist (CSWMFT) Board.

The Ohio State University College of Social Work has been approved by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals (CDP) Board as a provider of Continuing Education, approval number: 50-24068.

Certificates & CE Reporting 

CE certificates will be available for download in your learner portal within 1 business day after submitting the evaluation survey.

Hours for those with Ohio licenses that are submitted with the evaluation survey will be reported to CE Broker every 14 days (twice per month). 

⚠️ Note: You may only complete this training once for CE credit. You may revisit the content, but only one certificate will be issued and credit will only be reported to CE Broker one time.
