CRMGTPV X027 - Supporting the Wellbeing of First-Generation College Students

This 120-minute training examines the systemic factors that shape the wellbeing of first-generation college students, particularly when they are experiencing a crisis. Professionals will learn effective and responsive approaches to support young adults and their families while navigating complex academic, social, and mental health challenges.

Online Self-Paced: This training is constructed as a non-interactive, video-based asynchronous distance learning training.
Time to Completion
Total Asynchronous Time is approximately 2 hours.
Course Completion Requirements
Participants must submit a pre-training survey, complete all coursework requirements, and pass the training post-test with a score of at least 80%. Unlimited attempts are allowed. The post-training evaluation survey will be available once coursework and the post-test are completed, and the evaluation must be submitted to receive CE credit.

What You’ll Earn
- This training is approved for 2 CE clock hours for counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists, as well as prevention professionals in domain P6 - professional growth & responsibility and substance use counselors in domain TR1 – treatment field related (renewals only) in the state of Ohio.

Associate Professor and Doctoral Program Coordinator, Kent State University
Cassandra (Cassie) A. Storlie, Ph.D., LPCC-S (Ohio), RN (Illinois), NCC, is an associate professor and doctoral program coordinator in Counselor Education and Supervision at Kent State University. She has 19 years of counseling experience and has served in numerous clinical and leadership roles across mental health, addictions, crisis intervention, and counselor education. Storlie is president-elect of the national Association for Counselor Education and Supervision and has received multiple state and national awards for mentorship, diversity initiatives, research, and professional service.
Continuing Education Approvals
The Ohio State University College of Social Work provides CE approvals for counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists as accepted by the Ohio CSWMFT Board.
The Ohio State University College of Social Work has been approved by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals (CDP) Board as a provider of Continuing Education, approval number: 50-24068.
Certificates & CE Reporting
CE certificates will be available in your learner portal within 1 business day after submitting the evaluation survey. Hours for Ohio licenses submitted with the evaluation survey will be reported to CE Broker every 14 days (twice per month).
⚠️ Note: You may only complete this training once for CE credit. You may revisit the content, but only one certificate will be issued and credit will only be reported to CE Broker one time.
