This course explores how social determinants of health (SDOH) affect eye health outcomes. Through various patient cases participants will learn how non-medical factors influence patient care, develop strategies to incorporating SDOH considerations into everyday practice, and learn how to have patient-centered conversations regarding SDOH. Emphasis is placed on the importance of interdisciplinary care and how to effectively use local and national resources to improve patient outcomes.

  • Analyze patient cases to recognize social, cultural, and environmental barriers to vision care and apply strategies for addressing these factors.
