According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 1.8 million new cases of cancer diagnoses are expected in the year 2020, with women (about 912,930) being diagnosed more often than men about 893,660). As you can see, cancer is a very prevalent disease in the U.S. However, did you know that cancer is a disease of the aging? About 80% of all cancers diagnosed in the U.S. are in persons 55 years old or older; this is an increase from 77% in 2012. (American Cancer Society, 2020).
