PUBHL X001 - Public Health and Social Services Evaluation - Beginner

The Public Health and Social Services Evaluation – Beginner course is the first course in a three-level, non-credit certificate series. Learners are encouraged to complete the series sequentially, as each level builds upon the knowledge and skills introduced in the previous level. This introductory course provides foundational knowledge and practical skills in monitoring and evaluation within public health and social service settings. Through a combination of interactive modules, applied activities, quizzes, and reflections, learners will explore key concepts and tools used to plan, implement, and assess programs and services.
Designed for public health practitioners, program and service providers, graduate and undergraduate students, and early-to-mid career professionals, this beginner-level course helps build evaluation knowledge and strengthen evaluative thinking. Learners will gain hands-on experience developing logic models, creating monitoring and evaluation plans, and identifying meaningful performance measures to support data-informed decision-making and program improvement.
By the end of the course, learners will have a foundational understanding of evaluation practices and the confidence to contribute to evaluation activities across a variety of community, public health, and social service environments.
