This course provides an overview of Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) services for instructional use in the classroom, examples of what is possible, and how can the OSC build custom environments for your classroom instructional needs.  It is open to all current and potential OSC clients or anyone with an interest in high performance computing, regardless of affiliation with Ohio State.

 

 

What You'll Learn

  • Overview of OSC and services provided including types of clients and how to get questions answered
  • Introduction to High Performance computation (HPC) and use cases, terminology, and memory vs. storage
  • Over of the nodes on each OSC cluster, types of storage available, and file transfer to and from OSC systems
  • How to get information on software packages, and making and install software modules and add-ons
  • HPC clusters including how they use batch systems, submitting a batch job and viewing output, review of batch job scripts, and where to find additional information
