This training increases awareness of student-athletes' wellness needs and mental health concerns. Participants will learn practical strategies to support student-athletes, including recognizing signs and symptoms, addressing mental health issues, and linking athletes to appropriate resources.

What You'll Learn

  • Identify the underlying causes of mental health concerns and effects of stress and trauma.
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health concerns.
  • Examine techniques to support student-athletes with mental health concerns.
  • Identify linkage and referral opportunities to mental health clinicians and services.

What You'll Earn

  • A Coach Beyond: Supporting Student-Athlete Mental Health certificate of completion from Ohio State's College of Social Work.

Additional Information

Targeted audiences: Coaches, athletic directors, educators, youth workers, and other adults working with young people. This version of the course is not approved for Social Work CE credit (clock hours).
