This training helps coaches learn how to promote positive behavior and engagement in sports. Participants will explore factors influencing behavior, learn strategies to encourage positive behaviors, and understand Ohio's PBIS policy.

What You'll Learn

  • Increase understanding of Ohio’s standards for Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) and policies around restraint and seclusion.
  • Gain knowledge of the causes behind behaviors.
  • Learn coaching strategies that promote positive behavior.
  • Develop approaches to reduce punishment practices.

What You'll Earn

  • A Coach Beyond: Promoting Positive Behavior and Engagement certificate of completion from Ohio State's College of Social Work.

Additional Information

Targeted audiences: Coaches, athletic directors, educators, youth workers, and other adults working with young people. This version of the course is not approved for Social Work CE credit (clock hours).
