This course was developed to educate healthcare providers about the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) amongst hospitalized pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and to empower providers to develop standardized procedures for VTE risk screening and prophylaxis at their centers. We hope the evidence-based content provided in these modules acts as a toolkit to guide implementation of your own Standardized Tool for Prophylaxis VTE (SToP VTE).

What You’ll Learn

  • Describe the pathophysiology of VTE in IBD
  • Prevent VTE through screening for VTE risk, administering VTE prophylaxis, and monitoring to ensure safety
  • Develop a standardized VTE risk screening and prevention protocol
  • Educate patients and families about VTE risk and prophylaxis

What You’ll Earn

  • A certificate of completion for SToP VTE: Standardized Tool for Prophylaxis VTE from The Ohio State University
